Morphine sulfate acts as an agonist of opioid receptors of the CNS, in particular μ- and less κ-receptors. Excitation of μ-receptors causes supraspinal analgesia, respiratory depression, euphoria, excitement κ-receptors – spinal analgesia, miosis, sedative effect.
