Healthcare Sector

For InterChem SLC, caring for patients begins long before the pharmacy counter. We systematically support hospitals, laboratories, military and civil medical units, and educational healthcare initiatives across Ukraine—with special focus on the Odesa region, where our production facility is located.

Our priorities include rapid response to critical needs, strengthening diagnostics, targeted medicine deliveries, and long-term projects in palliative care. During wartime, we also focus on supporting military medicine.

Support for the Medical System During the Full-Scale War

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, InterChem SLC has been supplying medicines and medical products to hospitals, Ministry of Health departments, military medicine units, the National Police, children’s institutions, and local communities.

Following a long-standing tradition, the company has donated medicines to the Odesa City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, helped the Zaporizhzhia Military Hospital acquire external fixation devices worth over ₴2 million, and provided pharmaceutical supplies and medical products to residents of the Brovary and Kyiv regions, including evacuees from occupied territories.

By mid-2025, the total value of medicines and medical products provided to healthcare and defense structures reached approximately ₴70 million, as part of the company’s broader ₴300 million philanthropic program.

In the first weeks of the invasion, InterChem supplied significant batches of medicines free of charge to the Ministry of Defense, the National Police, and charitable foundations—fulfilling its principle: “We work to help others.”

Many military units continue to receive InterChem medicines regularly. The company’s medical support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces began back in 2014 and has remained an ongoing mission ever since. During the current phase of the war, InterChem also provides medicines and humanitarian aid to communities across nearly all frontline regions.

To help save lives on the front line, InterChem SLC donated a fully equipped intensive care ambulance—including monitors, defibrillator, ventilator, and vacuum stretchers—for a medical unit of the Armed Forces, as well as several casevac and emergency vehicles supplied to different front-line sectors.

Combating the COVID-19 Pandemic

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, InterChem SLC allocated over ₴2.5 million to equip and supply the Odesa City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital with medical devices and medicines. Based on the hospital’s urgent needs, the company purchased and delivered a portable ultrasound machine, oxygen concentrators, pulse oximeters, and antiviral and supportive medicines.

During the peak of the pandemic, InterChem provided the Odesa Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health with a modern PCR system and test kits—reducing diagnostic waiting times from days to hours.

At the same time, the Chernivtsi Regional Laboratory Center received a PCR amplifier donated by InterChem to help maintain testing capacity during periods of high demand.

Additionally, the company supplied preventive medicines free of charge to employees of the State Border Guard Service, Odesa Airport, and medical staff at infectious disease hospitals designated for COVID-19 patients. In response to a request from the National Security and Defense Council, InterChem also delivered 100,000 doses of its antiviral medicine to the Armed Forces in the Joint Forces Operation zone.

In 2020, InterChem received the National Award of Public Recognition “For Dedicated Work in Combating the Pandemic”, presented by the Ukrainian Medical Club. The company’s CEO, Anatoliy Reder, was also personally honored.

Support for Medical Institutions and Patients

Beyond direct medicine supplies, we invest in educational and awareness initiatives, partnerships with universities and healthcare organizations, and projects aimed at improving the quality and resilience of Ukraine’s medical system. Over the years, InterChem’s assistance has reached a wide variety of healthcare institutions nationwide.

For example, the company donated a modern ophthalmoscope to Okhmatdyt, Ukraine’s leading children’s hospital; provided over ₴319,000 worth of medicines to the Chernihiv Regional Administration through an international charitable foundation; and supplied medical equipment to the “Nasha Turbota” Rehabilitation Center in the Odesa region to improve care for patients recovering from strokes, injuries, and surgeries.

InterChem also maintains a long-term partnership with the Odesa Regional Blood Transfusion Station, regularly holding corporate Donor Days when employees voluntarily donate blood. This long-standing initiative supports both the local blood supply system and critically ill patients—saving lives on the front line and in peaceful cities alike. Several InterChem employees have been officially recognized as Honored Donors of Ukraine for their years of participation.

Palliative Care and Access to Pain Relief

For tens of thousands of Ukrainians, access to adequate pain management is not just about comfort—it is about human dignity. Until recently, many families faced unbearable pain that could have been controlled with modern treatments. InterChem SLC became a pioneer in changing that reality.

In 2013, the company became the first in Ukraine to register an oral morphine formulation, marking a historic breakthrough. Previously, only injectable forms were available, limiting patient rights and quality of life.

The first batch of oral morphine was donated by InterChem to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for use in hospices and palliative care wards. Since then, doctors have had access to an effective and patient-friendly treatment for chronic pain.

This milestone was recognized by Human Rights Watch and the Open Society Foundations, which described it as “the dawn of a new era for Ukrainian patients with severe illnesses.”

InterChem SLC is a collective member of the Ukrainian League for the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care, uniting doctors, NGOs, and businesses to ensure that palliative care in Ukraine meets international standards.

We support training programs, conferences, and workshops for medical professionals, helping them gain up-to-date knowledge on pain management and patient care. Through our social initiatives, the company continues to supply medicines to hospices and hospital palliative departments, ensuring Ukraine’s consistent access to modern, effective analgesics.
